Three Israeli individuals have been fatally shot at the border crossing between Jordan and the West Bank, according to Israeli representatives.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that a shooter drove up to the Allenby Bridge border from the Jordanian direction in a truck, stepped out and began shooting.
The security staff neutralized the shooter and the IDF inspected the truck for potential explosives, according to a statement.
Jordan has reported that they are looking into an event that took place in a region under Israeli control, where Jordanian vehicles unload merchandise destined for the West Bank. The border crossing is currently shut down from either end.
An Israeli authority informed the AFP news outlet that the individuals who lost their lives were security personnel who were not affiliated with the military or law enforcement.
The video recording displayed the assailant strolling towards the terminal and discharging his firearm thrice prior to being fatally shot.
A border official from Jordan informed Reuters that Israel’s military has held at least 24 Jordanian truck drivers in the unloading zone for questioning.
The Israel Airports Authority has confirmed that all land borders between Israel and Jordan have been shut down following the event.
The crossing point called the Allenby Bridge, also referred to as the King Hussein Bridge, is approximately midway between Amman and Jerusalem. It’s the sole formal crossing between the West Bank and Jordan. Furthermore, it’s the only access point to the West Bank that avoids passing through Israel.

He continued, “A detestable terrorist ruthlessly killed three of our people at the Allenby Bridge.”
Hamas authorities neither accepted nor denied their involvement in the assault, but they characterized it as an inevitable reaction to the conflict in Gaza.
